Ron Asheton 1948-2009

Guitargod/monster Ron Asheton died today. He was a truly inspiration for me and numerous others to pick up the guitar and play dirty r'n'r. Ron was one of the founding members of the proto-punk band The Stooges. After the stooges breakup he played in New Race (with members of MC5 and Radio Birdman), Destroy All Monsters and numerous other projects.
Punkrock wouldn't exist without them. Like Stooges-singer Iggy Pop wrote on his website, we are in deep shock...

I was lucky to see and shoot the Stooges first European reunion tour. I only shot a couple of photo's, then I gave the camera to my wife... the pit won...
