New York City!

We just got back from two and a half weeks in New York City. As always combining business with pleasure. A couple of photo assignments, but mostly vactation!
We stayed in a little apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Right in the middle of the neigbourhood we feel in love with during our last visit two years ago. Restaurants, concerthalls, pubs everything just around the corner and in 10 minutes your on Union Square, the heart of Manhattan!

The Fuji X100 was my main camera in the city. A real joy to work with and the ideal camera for street photographer. Everybody thinks you have a little filmcamera and mean no harm ;-)
Of course I used my (t)rusty old A900 for some city scapes but it is such a bulky, heavy camera that I mostly left in our apartment.

We're back!

Jetlagged... headache... post-trip hangover! Landed in Brussels yesterday, But our three week trip to the North West of the USA was really a blast! We had such a great time in Portland, allthough we missed our friends Bob & Tina, who were on a cruise to Alaska...
We had VIP-tickets (plus photopass) to the Music Fest NW festival, so maybe it sounds a bit bias, but we've never visited a city with such great micro breweries and dito pubs, recordstores and clubs! And seeing the Zero's, Bad Brains, Mudhoney, Sunny Day Real Estate and lot's of other bands in small clubs over the town... you can't imagine the atmosphere in these packed places....

But let's start from the beginning, we flew in to Seattle, stayed a couple of days, drove down to Portland to cover and photograph the Music Fest NW and then went down the Oregon coast. Hey been to Big Sur? Forget it! Of all the coastal trips we did over the years, only the Italian Amalfi Coast can beat it, but that one is only a one day drive...
After we left the Oregon coast we headed down through te red woods of California. If your looking for a thrilling ride, just do the Avenue of the Giants and try not to hit a tree that was here before Jesus was born, or Mohammed, or buddha...

After that we visited San Francisco for the second time this year, but this time we were in for something completely different: The Folsom Street Fair! Damn, what a party!
So, after that we needed some real vacation... Death Valley (FUCK THE PINK JEEP TOURS... tbc...) and for some last days of good food and shopping to Las Vegas....

The complete travellog is up for everyone (see the link on the right travel list), sorry Dutch only, but lot's of pics... and google translation or babelfish do a funny try to translate in your language!
