New York City!

We just got back from two and a half weeks in New York City. As always combining business with pleasure. A couple of photo assignments, but mostly vactation!
We stayed in a little apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Right in the middle of the neigbourhood we feel in love with during our last visit two years ago. Restaurants, concerthalls, pubs everything just around the corner and in 10 minutes your on Union Square, the heart of Manhattan!
The Fuji X100 was my main camera in the city. A real joy to work with and the ideal camera for street photographer. Everybody thinks you have a little filmcamera and mean no harm ;-)
Of course I used my (t)rusty old A900 for some city scapes but it is such a bulky, heavy camera that I mostly left in our apartment.

Back from another USA photo trip

It was cold in otherwise sunny california. It was cold in the deserts of Nevada. We got snowed in at Lake Tahoe and our trip to Kings Canyon was canceled due to a blizzard. Hello? Spring? Where were you?

San Diego, the most southern city of California looked like San Francisco; chilly and foggy. We visited Santa Monica and LA in the same month two years ago and were baked during a heatwave. Now we needed our winter jackets!

Besides the weather and some other minor mis happenings (speedticket) it was a nice trip.

Highlights? The ghost towns of Nevada; we found some unspoiled frontier towns in the middle of Nevada and revisted Bodie once more. Got enough inspiration and material for a follow up of my book 'Desert[ed]'... Nevada is a really beautifull place to visit, allthough it can get lonely sometimes! Didn't see a car for hours on a stretch of highway. And then, the first car we see is a statetrooper. Of course we were speeding on that deserted highway... damn!

We had the biggest fun and some hot days at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly festival. Four days of beautifull people and some of the best music in the world (Duane Eddy, The Ventures, Slacktone, Deke Dickerson's Guitar Geek Show, Space Kadets, JD McPherson, and many more)! And we drooled at all the magnificent hotrod cars at the carshow.

Back from another trip: Florida

Still tripping from the jetlag, just got back from two and a half week of work and vacation in Florida. Our second visit tot the Sunshine State and definitive a much better experience than the first time (that one was just after huricane Katrina and we also visited New Orleans, Alabama and the Panhandle). Let's just say it was less work more play! We stayed every night on a different Island (yep Miami Beach is an Island!) and especially Cedar Key and Key West were great. And the prices, since it's hurricane season, where really low, we had big hotelsuites for the price of a broomcloset! Didn't even notice the fall of the Euro!

Back from the USA!

We just came back from over 4 weeks of cruising through the South West of the USA. Although we had some bad luck during the trip, it was an unbelievable journey! Especially the golden fall color in Colorado were beautiful.

Some of the planned hikes we had to cancel, due to bad weather, sickness or washes out trails. But we got so see enough amazing new landscapes that we want to visit again on or next trip... After 8 trips were still not satisfied with the deserts of the south west!
